Love Is Not A Feeling

What's your definition of love? According to Meriam Webster it's a feeling of strong or constant affection for a person. Science describe love as a connection, characterized by a flood of positive emotions, which you share with another person—any other person—whom you happen to connect with in the course of your day. While in the bible from 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

But for you how do you define love? In my 29 years of existence I've learn to love. I learn to give, i have the courage and have inner strength in everything I do. You have this feeling of unexplainable joy and excitement. You're heart beats so fast when you hold hands, he kisses you and hugs you so tight.

When your young you have a crush and sometimes you feel you're inlove. You can't look at the eyes of that particular person. In highschool you started dating and feel 'kilig' when he stares at you. If you are thinking about him or her you feel that you are inlove by then.

But what is really mean by love? Are you ready to know about it? Let me share with you how I met my first boyfriend It was highschool and he was not my crush. He began courting me when I was in third year and we've known since first year. I was not really into him because I'm having a crush on someone else. But I was moved with his courage and sincerity. He'll pass by in our house every morning to do jogging. He faced my parents and talk to them. It was then I changed my definition of love.

Love is not actually a feeling but an action. Let's go back on how Bible defined love. You noticed it dealt with actions. Love is an action, an action which all of us has to remember. It must be shown not felt.

Love is a descision and commitment. Inorder this to happen you have the urge. Love is an action, an action to commit and an action to decide

God give us the power to love. You are nothing if you don't value love.

  1. Great post Marsh!!! I have added the following to further elaborate the biblical definition of Love.

    WHAT IS LOVE?

"The command I give you is this, that you love one another." —John 15:17

When the Lord says "I love you," He doesn't mean "I like you," "I'm attracted to you," or "I want to socialize with you." When the Lord says "I love you," He means "I have died for you." "It is precisely in this that God proves His love for us: that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Rm 5:8). "The way we came to understand love was that He laid down His life for us; we too must lay down our lives for our brothers" (1 Jn 3:16). "There is no greater love than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends" (Jn 15:13).

For a Christian, love is not selfish and superficial; rather, it is crucified and divine. Love for a Christian is not an attraction as much as a command. Jesus said: "This is My commandment: love one another as I have loved you" (Jn 15:12). "There are in the end three things that last: faith, hope, and love, and the greatest of these is love. Seek eagerly after love" (1 Cor 13:13—14:1).
